Saturday, 1 January 2011: New Year’s Day
This is one of the most widely celebrated International Holidays throughout the countries. Argentina celebrates this public holiday with displays of fireworks. Swimming is also one of the fun activities that Argentina people do during the New Year’s. Turron, pan dulce, and eating beans are the foods that are traditional foods for New Year’s.
Thursday, 24 March 2011: Día Nacional de la Memoria por la Verdad y la Justicia
In English, this is called the “Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice” which marks the coup d’etat anniversary that happened in 1976-1983 during the National Reorganization Process dictatorships.
Saturday, 2 April 2011: Día del Veterano y de los Caídos en la Guerra de Malvinas
This is the “Day of the Veterans and Fallen in Malvinas War” which is celebrated in honor of the dead veterans in the Falklands War in 1982.
Sunday, 1 May 2011: Labour Day
Like dozens of other countries, Argentina also celebrates Labour day in honor of the contributions of workers for their country.

This public holiday celebrates the “Day of the First National Government” which marks the anniversary of the May Revolution in 1810.
Monday, 20 June 2011: Paso a la Inmortalidad del General Manuel Belgrano
This is the “National Flag Day” in Argentina which marks the death anniversary of Manuel Belgrano who is known to have created the Argentina Flag.
Saturday, 9 July 2011: Anniversary of the Argentine Declaration of Independence
This public holiday celebrates the Independence of the United Provinces of South America declared by the Congress of Tucaman.
Wednesday, 17 August (next Mon after) 2011: Paso a la Inmortalidad del General José de San Martín
This day celebrates the “Death Anniversary of General Jose de San Martin” who is the liberator of Argentina, Chile and Peru.
Wednesday, 12 October (next Mon after) 2011: Día del Respeto a la Diversidad Cultural
In English, this translates to “Day of Respect to Cultural Diversity”. This holiday marks Christopher Columbus’ arrival to the Americas, in some countries, otherwise known as “Columbus Day”.
