Saturday, 1 January 2011: New Year’s Day
New Year’s Day is always celebrated with festivities and fireworks display. During the new year in Barbados, a midnight mass is celebrated at midnight since most residents are Catholic. Homes are decorated and families eat traditional foods with their friends.

This day is celebrated in memory of the social activist and leader, Errol Barrow.
Friday, 22 April 2011: Good Friday
Barbados celebrates the Christian holiday, Good Friday, which marks the death of Jesus Christ.
Monday, 25 April 2011: Easter Monday
Here, Barbados celebrates the day after the resurrection of Jesus. Some celebrate it with kite flying and a rest day with their families. The most popular food at this time is the “Easter Bun” which is a sweet and spicy loaf.
Thursday, 28 April 2011: National Heroes’ Day
This day honors the 10 National heroes of Barbados who have contributed to a positive change and development of Barbados.

This is an international holiday that celebrates the rights and commemorating the works done by the laborers of the country.
Monday, 13 June 2011: Whit Monday
This holiday celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit on Jesus’ Disciples.
Monday, 1 August 2011: Kadooment Day
This holiday celebrates Barbados’ end of the sugar cane harvest. People dress up in colorful clothes in a street carnival.
Tuesday, 2 August 2011: Emancipation Day Holiday
This public holiday marks the end of British slavery on 1834.
Wednesday, 30 November 2011: Independence Day
People celebrate this day in commemorating their Independence from Britain in 1966, partaking in various activities like sports, fairs, events and religious services. Buildings and some homes are decorated with Yellow and Blue lights which designates their national colors.
Sunday, 25 December 2011: Christmas Day
Christian holiday marking the birth of Jesus Christ.
Monday, 26 December 2011: Boxing Day
This day comes after Christmas where race horsing events and activities are done.
Tuesday, 27 December 2011: Christmas Holiday
Since Christmas falls on a Sunday, this marks the Christmas holiday.
