Belgium celebrates eight (8) public holidays which comprises of Christian holidays and proclaimed national holidays in their country. Holidays that happen on the weekends are not moved on the next working day.

This marks the celebration of Jesus Christ’s Ascension to Heaven – a Chrisitan Holiday.
Monday, 13 June 2011: Whit Monday
This holiday is also known as the Christian Pentacost where the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples of Jesus Christ.
Thursday, 21 July 2011: National Day
This public holiday marks the day when Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld took the oath as Belgium’s first king in 1831.
Monday, 15 August 2011: Assumption Day
This is a Christian holiday in celebration of the Virgin Mary’s ascension to Heaven.
Tuesday, 1 November 2011: All Saints’ Day
This day is in commemoration and with paying respects for the departed.
Friday, 11 November 2011: Armistice Day
This marks the day of the armistice signed by the Allies of WWi and Germany at France for ceasing the hostilities which took place in 1918.
