This holiday is also known as “Baron Bliss Day” which is one of the eleven national heroes of Belize. This day is celebrated in honor of the heroes that helped in developing Belize to what it is today.

This is a Christian holiday celebrated in commemoration of the death of Jesus Christ.
Saturday, 23 April 2011: Holy Saturday
Holy Saturday is a Christian holiday that falls between the death of Jesus and his resurrection on Easter Sunday. People go the beaches to spend some time with their families at the same time participating in prayers and “Stations of the Cross” by the roadside altars.
Monday, 25 April 2011: Easter Monday
This is the day after the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the time when people go back from their weekend holidays.

Saturday, 10 September 2011: Saint George’s Caye Day
This Belize Public holiday is also known as “National Day” which celebrates the final “Battle of St. George’s Caye” in Belize. People celebrate this day with concerts, talent shows and parades.
Wednesday, 21 September 2011: Independence Day
This holiday celebrates the anniversary of Belize’s declaration of Independence.
Monday, 10 October 2011: Pan America Day Holiday
Also known as “Day of the Americas”, Pan America Day celebrates the voyage of Christopher Columbus. In Belize, this holiday celebrates the migration of Mestizos and Indians (Hispanics) from the Yucatan, Mexico into Belize which happened around 1800’s.
Saturday, 10 November 2011: Garifuna Settlement Day
This holiday celebrates the arrival of the Garifuna people on Belize back in 1832. The people celebrate this with traditional Garifuna and Belizean food, music, dance, games and other festivities.
Sunday, 25 December 2011: Christmas Day
This is a Christian holiday to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. On this day, people visit their families and friends, clean their houses, attend mass and cooking food delicacies such as black fruit cake, hot corn tortillas and traditional foods such as tamales.
Monday, 26 December 2011: Boxing Day
This is the day after Christmas where people attend or participate in horse and cycle races, or they may go to shops where shops have Sales or Deals of items in low prices.
Tuesday, 27 December 2011: Christmas Day Holiday
This is in lieu of Christmas since Christmas is in Saturday.
