During religious holidays, Croatians celebrate it in devotion through masses and prayers with religious processions. On National holidays, they celebrate it with their families and friends.

Saturday, 1 January 2011: New Year’s Day (Nova Godina)
New Year’s in Croatia is celebrated with music and dance. Celebrating the New Year at the capital features live music with vendors selling food and drinks. Special events and restaurants and bars are also available during the New Year’s.
Thursday, 6 January 2011: Epiphany (Sveta tri kralja)
This Christian holiday is celebrated marking the day the Magi found the Child Jesus, at the same time commemorating the baptism of Jesus.
Monday, 25 April 2011: Easter Monday (Uskrsni ponedjeljak)
This is a religious Christian holiday that marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Sunday, 1 May 2011: Labour Day (Praznik rada)
This day celebrates the contributions and works of the workers and laborers of the country.
Wednesday, 22 June 2011: Anti-Fascist Resistance Day
This marks the rise of the anti-fascist Croatians in an uprising against German and Italian forces during World War II.
Thursday, 23 June 2011: Corpus Christi Day (Tijelovo)
This is a religious Christian holiday celebrating the Eucharist or “Body of Christ”. There is usually a procession of the Blessed Sacrament held on this day.
Saturday, 25 June 2011: Statehood Day
This day marks Croatia’s independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.
Friday, 5 August 2011: Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day
This day is held in memory of the victory during the war of independence during Operation Storm, taking the city of Knin, and bringing the end of the Republic of Serbian Krajina. This event is celebrated with parades, and attending mass in honor of those who died during the war.
Monday, 15 August 2011: Assumption Day (Velika Gospa)
This day is celebrated as the day of the Virgin Mary’s assumption to Heaven.
Saturday, 8 October 2011: Independence Day
Croatia’s Independence day was moved to this date according to the Brioni Agreement. The parliament officially cut all ties to Yugoslavia in October.
Tuesday, 1 November 2011: All Saint’s Day (Svi Sveti)
This is a religious holiday celebrating the memory of the Saints.
Sunday, 25 December 2011: Christmas Day (Bozic)
This marks the Christian belief of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Monday, 26 December 2011: Saint Stephen’s Day (Sveti Stjepan)
This holiday is in honor of Saint Stephen, a Christian Saint.
